“You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” John 3:7-8
The Law of Change—that changing yourself internally develops your character—is another Universal Law. What this really means is that you must go through a violent internal revolution that tears down all notions in your mind that put the love of money, the desire for power, and the need for self-actualization above meeting the needs of hurting people.
The words of Jesus related to your need to be born again take on a political tone when you consider that you were born and steeped in Eurocentric capitalist thinking. The radical shift from a learned and inherited Eurocentric mindset to a born-again Universal Mindset involves cataclysmic change. This change does not come simply because you read books or attend lectures. Rather, the shift from selfishness to selflessness is a revolutionary internal change that is mediated by no less than the Holy Spirit of God who lives in you.
You are not born again by choice in the same way that children who are born do not choose their ethnicity, parents or where they will live. The born-again experience is a God-directed and God-perfected process that comes to those who are the called and chosen ones for God’s purpose of creating only good in the world. Your desire to create only good is proof that you have already been chosen.
Although you cannot influence or manipulate the Law of Change, you can attest to the material effects and results produced by it. The Law of Change is responsible for evolving selfish people into generous and giving people. It has influenced naturally arrogant and small-minded people to evolve into humble and open-minded people. It can also inspire you to care deeply about serving last, least, and lost people.
